Storm Analysis

The reason that colonies #1 and #2 did not get blown over is because the 60+ wind was coming from the NNW, which is directly behind the Apiary, or from the right side of all photos 3, 4, and 7. The back row of colonies #C3, #C4, and the empty hive boxes absorbed the brunt force winds, thus protecting the front row colonies, with one exception. The wax melter (blue) and the empty NUC box had no rocks on top of them, so they blew over.

Notice that all overturned colonies fell in the same direction- SSE.
