HCC - 2026 Beekeeping Courses

... and Haywood Community College (HCC) have partnered together to offer basic and advanced courses on beekeeping. Since 2021, certified North Carolina and South Carolina beekeeper Zach has taught beginning and advance classes about honey bees and apiary management. The primary goal of the Backyard Beekeeping course is three-fold;

1) to introduce students to the "art and  science" of beekeeping,

2) to assist students through their first season as new beekeepers,

3) to guide students in preparation for the North Carolina State Beekeepers Certification test.


     If you are interested in learning how to manage honey bees, then you are invited to join any of the courses listed below:

     This is an intense and instructive 12-week course designed for those individuals who are seriously interested in becoming beekeepers and maintaining a honey bee apiary in North Carolina. This course DOES NOT require previous beekeeping experience!
